To redline or not to redline
Hello, guys. Please forgive the fact that I have mostly no idea what I'm talking about.
So, you know what it feels to redline a car right? It kinda gets jumpy, shakes the car a bit. Well I just recently purchased a 1991 GTO TT (I'm currently living in Japan), and I'm trying to figure the car out. I can get the car up to about 5000rpm in 2nd gear, and then it stars to feel like it's "redlining" if you will. Feels as if I NEED to shift the gears, but I still have another 2000rpm to go before I hit the redline. Needless to say, I don't need to be pushing it to that level, but I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. The only post-market mods were a racing clutch and a blowoff valve, if that makes any difference. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Cherb |

Re: To redline or not to redline
Will it rev to redline if you aproach it slowly?
If so it may be spark plug blowout. In which case you may just need new spark plugs, or to gap down the ones you have.

Re: To redline or not to redline
Not trying to hijack but this is a question that may be answered at the same time as his: Should the car pull as hard up to redline as it does in some of the middle range? Seems like when the car loses the boost (from ~14psi to ~10psi) the car stops pulling so hard until I shift up. Is that normal or should the loss in pull not be so noticeable?

Re: To redline or not to redline
That is normal with stock turbos.
