Re: hypertech prgramer III

First, what mods do you have and what type of driving are you planning on doing with it?

Re: hypertech prgramer III

so far, k&n fipk intake, TB bypass, 275 40 17's in the back and 245 40 17 in the front, flowmaster cat back, slotted/ drilled rotors, gorillaz stage two chip, hypertech programer III, and everything else is stock, havent changed the gear ratios yet, same axle differentials, i havent ported any heads yet either. since winter is coming i'm working on the car in a garage and not driving it. otherwise it's my daily driver and i will take it to the track to race. hopefully that answers your question, thanks for the reply.

Re: hypertech prgramer III

Are you planning on doing more mods? If so, I highly recommend ditching the Hypertech programmer. I read up on what those things offer and they say that the tuning they use, its only good on stock applications to 2 basic bolt-ons; cold air intakes and cat-back exhausts. The programming isn't made for anything more than that. I guess it would be good for the preliminaries like changing shift points and diagnostics, but other than that, its worthless.

As far as shift points and rev limiter go, I wouldn't mess with them right now because you have no reason to push your car past where it needs to go. The computer will shift your car when it needs to.

On a side note, what exactly is that 'gorillaz stage 2' chip? My friend just bought a formula and it had that chip on it. Never heard of it, and as far as I can tell, chips don't really do shit on these cars.

Re: hypertech prgramer III

the Gorilla Chipz is off of ebay, i got the stage II chip, which is suppose to give you "35-58" plus horespower. check it out. now, i bought it and noticed a change in power. it definetly didn't give me more tahn 10 horepower, but with the chip intsalled, the torque was probably the most noticable. People say they dont do shit, and they are right for the most part, however i dont recomend buying one. It's too much money forwhat it's worth. It's also false advertizing.

Re: hypertech prgramer III

Hypertech is garbage... for an LT1 I would contact PCM4LESS about a tune and noone else... well unless TSP (texas speed and performance) is doing lt1 tuning now

Re: hypertech prgramer III

well, i have a hypertech programmer and although its not the best its alright..
btw, i didnt buy it..came w. the car..

i actually lowered my rev limiter so i dont do stupid shit and kill myself.. (too easily)

the stock is set to..5800 RPM on a LT1 Fbod, and you can make it from 5600->6400. i turned it down to 5600 on mine..

and thats about it, i also did that 92octane only deal, since i only USE 92 octane..didnt get much change in power.. but hey whatever.. =)

Re: hypertech prgramer III

I just don't think a programmer as limited as that one is worth $300. Sending your PCM to a place like PCMforless is ~$250 depending on what type of car, for a custom tune. Haven't done it yet personally, but will this winter.

Re: hypertech prgramer III

i agree, the hypertech doesnt do enough for the $300 it costs..but sometimes if you really dont want much, just a few things you can mess around with it might be something to consider. The only real reason im using the hypertech tuner is so i can turn the RPM limiter down...and if i want to drag race, i can always bump it back up to stock without having to send or recieve anything, just 3-4 min to let her program up..and im good to go!
