2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI won't start

The car ran perfectly fine, stumbled and then stalled. I left the car alone overnight and then was started like nothing was ever wrong. It ran for 20 minutes and then died again. This has happened 4 times. No codes present except for P1336.

We have changed the Crank Positioning Sensor, the spark control module, Cam Positioning Sensor, PCM and the car still won't start. We have tried to do the learning procedure for the crank positioning sensor, but the car will not start. It turns over, but will not fire. The coil packs are good, the fuel pressure is 55lbs and the spark plugs and wires have all been changed.

If anyone can offer any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to AF.

Are you sure all the parts replaced to date were good? Was it done DIY or by the dealer?

P1336 is CKPS System Variation Not Learned. It can be caused by an improper camshaft position signal, 3X reference signal or 18X reference signal so something is still not right even though you replaced those parts which are associated with this type of problem.

Re: 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI won't start

Wow tough one.
VATS.? Are you getting spark? That would be the run for very short time and quits but not the 20 min.
Thinking.. thinking.

Something isnt allowing spark and fuel. Not seeing the sensors. OHM them out from the Ignition Module..
(the Camshaft and Crankshaft sensors). I think the Camshaft sensor Is used for spark advance and fuel adjustments. The crankshaft sensor would kill it. The connector plug to the IM also has been known to go bad. Theres also a connecton at mid engine on top that comes from the IM that gets all those signals to the PCM past the one more connection at the firewall passenger side. Need to check them too.

GOOD LUCK.

P.S.

The PCM may be sensing a bad key or ignition switch.
