Coolant drain
Looking to drain coolant on a '97 Cavalier. I cannot seem to locate any drain plug on the radiator. I could pull off the lower hose, but I'd probably lose most of the coolant. Any ideas?
Thanks |

Re: Coolant drain
Do u wanna drain all ur coolant? If so removing the lower hose wud do the trick, thats what i did anyways. U also have to take off the upper hose by the thermy to remove any excess.

*EDIT* But there is a drain plug located on the radiator.... The radiator drain is located on the radiator and faces the front of the vehicle (adjacent to the condenser-to-radiator bolt), it can be accessed after the lower splash shield is removed |

Re: Coolant drain
Maybe he wants to remove it to do some kind of work but not "lose" it as in needing to replace it?
If thats the case, drain plug should work I would think. Just use a pan to recover any draining coolant. |

Re: Coolant drain
i agree. dont change anything coolant runs through, without changing the coolant itself. it will save you a lot of headaches later. cuz if the new part has bits of metal or something in it....u dont want that getting into ur engine or anything like that. plus its not that expensive so i would just do it anyways.... thats just what i heard though
