cant find belt to fit 92 cherokee
I have a frustrating problem. I just got a 92 cherokee, the belt was pretty loose, i could twist it around with my hand, with it set at the farthest setting for tightness. a freind went to autozone and got me a new belt, it was supossedly the correct one for a 92 jeep with ac. but when i put it on it was actually looser then the origional. i went back up and tried to explain this and they sent me home with one a foot smaller which didnt even reach the steering pump. I was wondering if anyone else on here has had an similar problems or advice. I have been working on cars for years and have the haynes manual, so im not a complete newbie to this. i dont see any other adjustments, besides the correct one on the steering pump. i know the previous owner let some idiot work on it but unless they installed a wrong alternator, or changed a pulley size, which i doubt i cant seem to figure why i cant find a belt. thanks for any ideas or hints

Re: cant find belt to fit 92 cherokee
First...need to know what year, engine,V belt,or serpintine belt....With any belt there be adjustments.
With the serp belt the adjustment is at the power steering pump...2 bolts in the back 2 in the front of the pump The 2 in the front... 1 is almost directly under the pulley this one keeps the adjuster bolt from mving 1 one is at the end of the adjuster this is what it says the adjuster The 2 in the back will have to be loosened the top one can be loosened from the top with a wrench The bottom one is easier to loosen from under the vehicle and can be gotten to with a socket and rachet

Re: cant find belt to fit 92 cherokee
Go here this gives you the same part number I used for the serpentine belt on my 92 4.0 inline 6 with a/c.
