Question 97 Cavalier Cooling Fan

my cavalier was overheating, changed thermostat and bled system ... now have to turn on AC to make radiator fan work ... is there a sensor that should tell the fan to come on w/o the AC on ? ...

Re: 97 Cavalier Cooling Fan

was or is??

the fan kicks on when your temp guage gets to about 3/4 (usually only does it when your sitting still for quite a few minutes)
if it doesnt come on, then it could be either your "coolant temperature sensor" or your "cooling fan relay"
if your temp guage (in your dash cluster) is working fine, then your coolant temperature sensor probably isnt the problem
if you wanna know how to test the relay, let me know, ill type it all out

Re: 97 Cavalier Cooling Fan

I'm having the same problem. I've tested the relay and it seems OK. Did you get yours fixed? If so, what was the problem?
