ls1 in 75 firebird
I have a 75 firebird. It si a heap and I plan some sort of resto. I have been looking into restomods which could be a good way to get reliability and power. It seams that many camaro/firebird owners are putting a vette, camaro, or firebird ls1 in with a t56 tranny and a 9" ford rear. What is so special about this setup and why a ford rearend. What are the obstacles to overcome to complete this. Thanks. Simon

Re: ls1 in 75 firebird
They use the Ford 9inch rear because it is very strong, easy to change gear ratios in and readily avialable.
The things you'd have to over come are: mounting the engine i the car because your 75 Pontiac actually had a PONTIAC engine in it and the mounting is different from the current universal Chevy mounting. The other thing is wiring, you'd need (of course) an entire wiring harness for the LS1 and you'd need schematics for your car. Another thing to consider is weather you want to use an external fuel pump or if you want to try sumping your current tank and using an in tank pump. |
