, not to sound like a prick but why are u asking then? I want to, its my ride, and it looks hot, so i dont want this forum to turn into a bash fest on the conversion, i want someone who has info to help me out... o.k. besides that im going H22 turbo and i need the space, EF chassis dont give that, im running outta room with just my turbo y8 swap...

Re: 89 crx to 96 civic front end conversion help

I highly doubt anyone cut the frame and welded a new one on, they probably cut the fenders and welded a piece from each together. Cutting the frame of the car is a HORRIBLE idea; it'd be a major problem with the car's structural integrity. So you're not going to gain any more room in your engine bay. If you need more room, start with a bigger car.

Re: 89 crx to 96 civic front end conversion help

I dont know how you can have the green to drop an H22 in a EF but at the same time think about welding in the front frame of a 96 civic. Those rice a roni conversions you've seen were, as mentioned above, just welded on fenders and bumpers, not entire frames. So even if you do decide to ruin your crx with this conversion, your not gonna gain any more space in your engine bay, since its still gonna be the crx's engine bay. The reality of what your doing is ruining another crx, oh well, just means mines is gonna go up in value...

im thinkin about puttin a buick regal front end on mine but dont kno how to do it. or maybe i could put a caddy grill on it. that would be mad sick tight yo..

why not just buy a 96? crx's look better as a sleeper anyways..keep it clean and youd get more respect

Re: 89 crx to 96 civic front end conversion help

yep i agree with what has been said also. give it a nice drop and some suspension with a engine swap and you got a nice crx that has gone way up in value. and a body kit crx will probly go down seeing as how almost every person who does body kits never actually gets to painting them and making it look nice.
