96 Sunfire GT

I'm thinking of buying a 96 sunfire GT 2dr 5 spd, it has 171 thousand clicks on it, but there's a some rust on the undercarrage, it's off a dealership i think they want 2500 for it, is it worth it?

Re: 96 Sunfire GT

depends on what you plan for it...daily driver, the motor is getting up there in age, it might need a rebuild in a short time. gas mileage is good, but with the goodies you can get, it wont last long.

if there is visible rust on the body, like the rear quarters, it can be a pain to make it go away...I know, I'm still trying to get the rust off mine.

Big rust area, rear of the door area, that area is also the front of the rear tire well, and is prone to rust over time. just look it over and make a decision based on what you think.

I know I'd buy it as a project car, for less than the $2500 (I can get a loaded 95-99 GT around here for $1500 or so) check the KBB and other book values for what you should offer them at present condition.
