1992 Grand AM SE 4 cylender cutting out during acceleration.
Hi there. I have a 1992 Pontiac Grand AM SE 4 cylender QOHC.
I was hoping I could get some help here fixing it. Alot of times but not always, it cuts out during acceleration. like you push the accelerator petal to the floor and nothing happens for a few seconds. 5-10 seconds and then it kicks in all of a sudden and accelerates. It seems to mostly do this from a full stop to acceleration. If I am already going 10-30 MPH it seems fine and it seems to idle fine. I cant hear any problems in the idleing. I would say it does this about 20 or 30% of the time. It has been doing this for a long time and I have been just driving it anyways but I would like to get it fixed if possible. THe only codes that came up was AC pressure sensor and something else I cant remember exactly what it was it was 3 letters. Any ideas what could be causing this? |

Re: 1992 Grand AM SE 4 cylender cutting out during acceleration.
Welcome to AF !
How many miles on your 92' Quad 4? That other code would also be nice to know.... Do these look familiar, MAF, TPS, MAP. Could be numerous things. From your ignition system, to Clogged or dirty injectors, low fuel pressure, or a dirty clogged fuel filter. Or your emisions system if faulty.

Re: 1992 Grand AM SE 4 cylender cutting out during acceleration.
180,000 miles on the car. If I remember right the other code was QDM or something like that, im sure it was 3 letters but it wasn't MAP or TPS or MAF.
We accidently erased the codes and I wish we wouldn't have but I am ffairly sure it was something like QDM or something like that. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. |

Re: 1992 Grand AM SE 4 cylender cutting out during acceleration.
yes the QDM , that would be the Quad Driver Module.
Think its part of the Pcm. Not positive where its located though. Some components that the QDM controlles are the, coolant light, SES light, speedo, EGR solenoid, canister purge solenoid, cooling fan(s), and maybe the A/C control. Might be more things or less for the 92' ...... been awhile since I've seen a 92' ![]() If you had the QDM code its probly back.
