damm I got a ticket..... speeding in the 4.3!!!

well I was on my way to school to pay for my for my classes im taking this fall (hvac tech major) anyway there was a single cab silverado or gmc in front of me he was doing about 15 to 20mph on a 40 zone so I say ok too slow for me ill pass him up I pass him up at full thorttle as I pass him there is a red light ahead of me so I slow down he passes me up and I continue going after the light at that point I see there is a cop on my tail I did not think much of it but I made a right and he follow me at that point I belived he saw me accelerate hard but how fast was the question no more then 45 i thought a pull over later and told I was going 64mph!!! I found that very very hard to belive he showed me the laser dectector he was using and it said 64 mph this sucks anyway I plan on fighting this one

I got 2 question

1) the tires I have on my truck are a bit bigger then the stock tires I bought the truck with them on and when I drive I notice that the needle is not 100% right when I come to a stop it reads about 10 to 5mph for a second then drops when I passed the truck there was no way I was going 64mph I never saw the needle go pass the 50 mph which tdc on my guage 64 Is a bit to far over for to belive this laser im thinking of going to the dealer and having my speedo checked even if they do nothing ill have a recipet that might be a good way to beat my ticket

2) to prevent or to help prevent such a situation im looking at getting some sort of detector to let me know when cops are near or when there pointing there laser or radar at my truck I dont want to go through all im about to go through again!!!! and how the hell do i know if his laser is caibrated right It could be way off for all I know what the hell!!

..........and to think my truck is just a 4.3

You should get the spedo checked out like you said and then if you are correct fight it. As for detectors, fuzz-busters are nice. Cobra makes some decent ones,but there are many to choose from depending on how much you want to spend.

As far as tire size Mine list 245/75 as stock and 265/75 optional . I currently have the 265/75s on it . I checked my speedo with my GPS and they matched . So unless a previous owner changed yours with a programmer , its probably not off that far . Just tell the judge you were racin , maybe he will be a NASCAR fan . HAHA , just kidding .
On radar detectors , I have four , one in each vehicle . My favorite is a radio shack unit that talks and beeps . In my area though the cops are using tactics that detectors don't work against . they ride around in expiditions that were drug seizures with 24" wheels and let you fly past them before pulling you . My car is a cop magnet so being the slowest in the pack is my best plan of action . Rob

if you go befor the judge. ask him how do i know that the display he showed me was not from a car he used the dector on befor me. if the officer did not reset the dector he could of been showing me a display of a car speeding on the highway.

yes that happend to me. the officer had clocked a car then pulled me over later. how do i know at 75mph i would of been going all over the road. i had a bad front end on the car i was driving. any thing over 58 mph and the car would shake. I had cars passing me left and right on the road. that day i was taking it into the shop to have the front end fixed.

I did not win at all. cops dont lie. yea right. this cop so far gets a new car every year, he seems to crash them a lot.

Im thinking of just paying and going to traffic school I got to go back to school at the end of this month and i dont want to have to worry about any stupid ticket or judge Dredd crap while im going to school full time and working full time let alone time itself

I went to the court house today and the ticket is not yet in the system ill guess il have to wait

So far I got my eyes set on a Escort 8500 x-50 the new ones have blue leds and are expensive but it might just be worth it unless i can find a good used one. As far as mounting, I hate that wire running up for the cig lighter to the radar I found a pic on what someone has done on another forumhttp://chevytruckworld.tenmagazines....Z71/191887.jpg I like this setup but if you guys have other ideas im all ears. I dont have anykind of overhead console so thats going to a little project for me

I would not buy a used radar detector, no way...mainly because todays Radars are much more advanced and mysel like any brand of the Rocky Mountain (I have the C430) which as I've no problems with anyone locking onto my speed....its like your not even there. I've compared different brands and see that this one is the best of the best.....You'll have to do a search on Rocky Mountain Radar to get the best pricr online but you'll see what I mean when you do.

never heard of them do they detect lasers too?? i think your right about getting one used

My vote is for Valentine One.
It has two radar antennas, one front and one rear, so I know where it's coming from.(front, side or rear).
It dosent false as much as other brands and can be hard wired to help conceal it.
I'm not trying to sell V1, just know it works for me.
As for Laser detection, you have to be darn lucky to catch it with any detector.
Big $$$ but worth it to me.
Do a search and read what others think.
As with any tool, you need to use it correctly, have common sense and be prepaired to pay the price if caught.
We also drive a large target to lock in on!
