Limp mode Transmission Relay HI
About a year ago very infrequently, my jeep would with no pattern upon starting slip into limp mode and start off in 2nd gear - would not change gears. No other problems. Only very occasionally. About 2 months ago I got a transmission over temp light and dealer replaced a transmission valve to the tune of $1000. Picked car up and on 30 mile drive home engine light came on again. Took back to dealer and was told needed new torque converter @ $2000. Lost faith in dealer and had rebuilt transmission installed. Now the check engine light is back on more frequently than originally and car again slips into limp mode. I don't think the two problems are related other than the limp mode thing happening more frequently than before. They've run codes on it and get a Transmission Relay Hi notice. Had a new relay switch installed but it didn't help. Does anybody have any idea at all what it could be? There is no pattern whatsoever to it slipping into this mode. The only think that seems constant is that if it is in limp mode when I park it overnight, the next morning it is normal (I think). Any suggestions are welcome. Patty

Re: Limp mode Transmission Relay HI
replace vehicl speed sensor on back of tranny case. $15 autozone. Screws in and out. This sensor has smooth tip that counts vehicle rotations, sneds signal to TCM to shift, downshift, etc.
Mine had small burr on tip thatcaused intermittant downshifts for 4 years. drove me nuts! Tom Denkler [email protected] |
