Red face Buying CRX HF

I'm looking into buying this Honda Crx hf for 1700 obo, talked to the guy selling he doesn't know much about hondas at all, he says it has a different motor than what came with the car, but he's not sure what motor cause his son owned it. He, and I quote, says "I think the motor in there came out of a 93 accord or prelude.... and he thinks its a dohc head" I thought about that for maybe three seconds before realizing the 93 acc. or lude had ither a f-series or h-series... but maybe I'm wrong cause I also thought that the accord came with d-series as well, but not the lude. He also says he thinks it's a 1.6L. Thru all this confusion the only thing I know is I'm not gonna know before I pop the hood and look at it myself, but I've been kinda getting excited it might have a b-series or a, from what I gather rare, dohc d-series. I was just wondering if someone could give me a heads up on what ya'll think it could be with the bad info I was given that I gave to ya'll lol. Later ya'lls and I'm happy to be back on these forums

Re: Buying CRX HF

could be a dohc zc engine or any number of b series engines. if its got an h22 nice but id check the engine badge when you get a chance just to make sure

the older accords never had a d-series in them just the f-series.

Re: Buying CRX HF

from what I gathered the stock CRX HF had a really shitty 62hp motor, what kind of power does the dohc zc motor produce? I thought, but wasn't sure some accords some year, they had a d17 for some reason. oh and I asked what color the valvecover was cause he said he recently had it off and he said it was black and he also said he's pretty sure it's a 1.6.

Re: Buying CRX HF

The double cam ZC makes like 130-140 if healthy. What year is it? Take a look at the car, if the body and interior are in good shape, no rust, no dents, no accidents, etc. then offer him 1400. Also cross your fingers and hope the interior is black not blue. Good luck.

Re: Buying CRX HF

Lol why does blue int suck ass so much out of curiousity, is there a probloem with it or just not you color preference? I've seen the car I've been on-top of it almost the int is blue, the car has a new paint job (white, not my favorite color but I know the owner of a boby shop that'll lemme come in and paint it myself) I haven't been able to pop the hood tho -_-' oh and it's an 88, but the milage is real low, I think he said it was at about 70,000

Damn i like that low mileage. The fact that its an 88 is good, thats the lightest CRX you can find. I'd definitely recomending getting it so long as theres no rust or accidents. Black interior is WAY better than blue, trust me...and dont think you can just paint over the blue, it doesnt work that way and its not worth it. Also, if it just had a paint job why not stick with white, its not that bad of a color IMO.
