Microsoft patch blows!

I have not been able to stay on AF at all today because the stupid security patches released (KB918899) kept givina critical stop anytime you budged, hit the back or forward button or anything.

So, anybody having problems, I had to troll around Technet for hours until I found the article in which on 8/22/06 a 'fix' patch will be made public. Until then this keeps IE up and running, 80% of the time, but is safer than just going back to a restore date prior to the patch:

Go to "Tools"
"internet options"
"advanced"
"settings"
remove the check mark form "Use HTTP 1.1"

IE sucks.. use crazy browser..

www.crazybrowser.com

Its like IE except it keeps all windows in one window and they are placed on tabs.. it keeps things nice and clean, also it has a popup blocker and some other stuff.

Firefox all the way. Alot safer and easier to use. It's based on Netscapes main frame, so every now and then you'll run into a site that's only designed to support IE, but there's a patch you can install that creates a button at the top (next to Back, Forward, Refresh and all that) that lets you switch between viewing pages with Firefox and IE. You should at least just give it a try. Honestly I didn't like very much when I first downloaded it, but it really does grow on you and it even lets you completely import all the websites under your Favorites and what not. It's really nice and has a ton of skins you can download too.

Re: Microsoft patch blows!

im on firefox.

I only have one problem with my firefox... some how I got a stupid extra tool bar thing (i think it was a yahoo tool bar) and I deleted it, but now I still have an extra line between my tabs and the address bar. It has nothing on it, and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get rid of it. Doesn't really affect anything, I just hate it because its wasted space.

Re: Microsoft patch blows!

That's nice and all, but I have to use what's given to me. I don't think the IS department would be overly concerned when I tell em that the patch has screwed up my ability to surf around Af.

You think it was the security patch, but in reality its our very own resident gremlins known as the Yaya that is the culprit. We send them out on occasion.

TS out (giving the yayas their weekly pay)
