Compression Tester

What compression testers do you all use??? I had a close call the other day...I went to advanced auto and bought a compression tester kit (adapter that screws into spark plut hole, 1ft long hose, and the gauge) So I connect the hose to the adapter a screw it into my spark plug hole. Check the compression...but when I go to take out the hose and adapter only the hose comes out leaving the adapter down in the spark plug hole...None of my sockets would fit in there so I bit the bullet and put superglue around the threads of the hose so that when I screwed the hose back into the adapter it would get glued together and they would both come out together.

Luckily, I didn't tighten the adapter too much b/c it then came right out of the hole with the pieces superglued together....I'm scared to use this same kit again b/c I don't want to get that adapter stuck down there again, but there is a good chance that it will all hold up since I have the hose and adapter superglued together now! What compression tester kits do you all use???

Re: Compression Tester

yeah man you have to tighten that shit up like whoa before you to a test, and make sure you put some oil on the rubber o-ring to help seat everything. dont feel bad though, i've seen that happen before...twice lol.

Re: Compression Tester

Yeah, also if you dont have it tight you could get a flase reading from leaky threads and O-rings.
