400v8
ok heres the deal, i just swaped in a 77' 400v8 into my 85 firebird and i was wonderin if some one could give me a round about on what kinda HP and 1/4mile times i will have and the best performance parts i should start off with would be

what did the engine come out of? what u need to do is look up the hp numbers to whatever vehicle its from.thats how much hp u will be making.as far as the 1/4 mile times go u may be a little disappointed in the difference compared to how much work u did.it usually takes a lot of modification to make serious improvements in times.if its out of a pickup i wouldnt assume it makes a lot more hp than the 305 that likely came out of your car.what u did gain however is tourque and more hp potential with minor mods.

carbed or FI? auto or manual? what size heads? exhaust? need more info, i have a 400 sbc with forged flat top pistons, 64 cc heads, 3 inch exhaust, shorty headers, no emissions, underdrive pulleys, no ac or p/s, big cam, and lots more, im going for almost 500 ft/pounds of tourque and like 440ish hp. still in the process of being built, but before it made like 350 hp probably. maybe a little less
