hard uphift

Hello everyone. Kind of new here. I just bought a 93 Bravada for my son. when the tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd it seems like it takes a little too long and shifts hard, otherwise it shifts good. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: hard uphift

I'd try a fluid and filter change in case something is trying to stick although I think the '93's have computer controlled shift solenoids. Any used car purchased should have the transmission fluid and filter changed to be certain the trans isn't neglected.

Re: hard uphift

ok forgot to give specs: 93 bravada 4.3 vortec smarttrac o/d. didn't mention this earlier, didn't think it related. coolant temp gauge wasn't working. stopped at autozone to p/u temp sensor and they showed 2 of them.brought them home found one on right side cyl. head and the other on front of block behind a/c comp. replaced both, topped off coolant, test drove and seems to be fixed.any comments?? thanks for your help

do you have the digital dash? and what temp does yours show at the hottest? Just wondering because my digital guage usualy runs right at 200, going a bar above in city driving (which i hate), and two bars above when climbing into the mountains while towing (which i love).

i agree with chris, for a change, on the fluid and filter change but have a real trany shop do the it and test drive the vehicle. they can tweek the shift points and give you a better idea of whats going on than the grease monkeys at the quickie lube. if they recomend a full rebuild get a second and third opinion. these trannies are hard to kill.
