Need Help With Rear Window Sealing.
I need to reseal the rear window in my 1980 Trans Am. It doesnt appear that there is any weather stripping, just a thick bead of sealer between the window and frame. Could someone tell me if this is correct or if I need weather stripping or just window sealant. And if just window sealant: How thick? Or should I just let a professional do it? Thanks. Steve

Re: Need Help With Rear Window Sealing.
To get a proper seal around the back window, remove it, scrape all traces of old sealant from the window and the frame, apply a 1/4" bead of sealant around the window frame, press the window in, tape around it and leave the tape there for a day or so, don't slam the doors with the windows up or the glass will pop out. Make sure you use the right sealant, some of them require a black strip around the glass to prevent the sealant from drying out in the sun. Good luck.
