99 Sebring Convertible - Won't start. Key problem, or part of the antitheft system?
99 Sebring Convertible has never had this problem. It was fine one day, then it was parked for a week or so. Next time it was started, it died after a few seconds. Then nothing, no clicks or noises other than the fuel pump, at all. The lights on the dash are all lit, the power windows work fine, the headlights come on, but when you turn the key, nothing. After letting it sit a few minutes, it would start again, and you could rev it up, etc.. but only for a few seconds, then dead, like you shut off the key. It acts like a key that was cut by a hardware to open the door, but not start the car. We know from that experience a couple of years ago, after getting a spare cut, then finding out you have to get a dealer programmed key to start the car. But that is what it is acting like now with the "good" key.
Anybody have any ideas to trouble shoot other than taking it to the dealer?? THANKS |

Well, it is running again. It did not take the dealer very long at all. It was about $85. They said it had a LOCKED UP MODULE. They powered down the module, and reset the SKIM Code?? What ever that all is, we will never know. Probably just disconnected the battery!!
