Hi, Master Hec0. I just had this happen to me too. The code was nowhere to be found on my 2003 Grand Marquis either when I bought it a few months ago. It seems like the people who buy the GM brand new remove the labels with the code. I was told the label was small, about 1/2"x3" and it should be stuck somewhere inside the trunk, possibly the hinges. Nothing there. The dealer told me it was behind the passenger door panel, which i wasn't about to try to take apart - you know those panels can rip when trying to take it apart and it never comes back on the same way. The manual stated there was one of only three places: the glove compartment on an "owner's wallet card", whatever that means. Or taped to the computer module, which you would have to take the instrument panel apart to reach (it's behind the climate control system). I checked the third place the manual stated - at the dealer!!
They hook the car up to their computers and give you the code. Mine charged $ 45.00 for the service, which I found reasonable considering I saved myself hunting for the elusive code behind an unassembled instrument panel or duct taped door panel!! My advice, if you cannot find the code (it's five digits, by the way) stuck somewhere in the trunk, take it to the dealer and request that they give you the code. You won't be sorry.
