I went to the NHRA races in Memphis yesterday...
The funny car races were awesome. One mopar funny car hit 296 MPH in the quarter mile. They also had some nice Camaro and Firebird races. They had some real kick ass firebirds. Did anyone else go or watch the races on TV? One of the cars they had was the Shelby GT 500 with a 428

Re: I went to the NHRA races in Memphis yesterday...
Yup, Top Fuel and AA/FC are pretty incredible to watch! 296? Slow day... The air must have been "bad". 10 years ago, at VMP, John Force broke 300 for the first time. It was a cool, fairly "dry" night. GREAT air for racing.
Top Fuel is like halucinagenic drugs. Your friends can tell you about it. You can see it on TV or in a movie. You can read about it. BUT... Unless you've actually BEEN there, you have no idea... !!! They call them "ground pounders" for a reason! NHRA is finally coming back to Virginia this Fall. Can't wait... Going to Indy next week! Jim "Gas is for washing parts. Alcohol is for drinkin'. NITRO is for RACING!!!" |
