Exclamation AHHH!!! too many parts so little money...

my car has begun to have a moderate shudder and has a clicking noise in the top end. looking at the engine from the front it sounds like the problem is coming from the left side. any ideas? i have been told that my timing chain and guide need to be replaced...

Re: AHHH!!! too many parts so little money...

the chain itself when stretched/worn will cause a rattle noise that some relate to the sound of a desiel engine. worn guides will result in debris in the oiling system which will resrict oil to the hydrualic lifters causing a rapid ticking noise. both sounds are most noticible at idle when the engine is cold.
