Hood Insulation-Where to buy?

I got my hood off and i'm painting the underside to dress up the engine bay. The insulation piece is the original and it's shot. I could just remove it and paint the whole thing but my first choice would be to replace it with a new piece. I want one that is made for the Stealth and only the Stealth. Is there any place that sells factory pieces that are an exact fit? Thanks for the help. John

stealership? try there.

only other option would be to find a car in a junkyard w/o a hood liner in good condition (probably won't happen).

Stealership? Isn't it too bad that dealerships have a well deserved reputation that "all" there parts are way overpriced. A part like this a person should think of them first but most of the time I never give them a second thought. It's sad but very true.

Re: Hood Insulation-Where to buy?

Most people remove them completely when they start to look bad. I've heard plenty of people remove them, and only 1 or 2 that reported issues with their paint bubbling down the line.

IIRC, Dealerships want around $75

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

If the cost is $75 then it isn't that bad of a price. I have the hood off now and in the process of sanding it down and ready for paint. When I go to car shows this is one area that not much attention is paid to. Most of the nice ones that I have seen is they will completly take the old piece off and just paint the underside of the whole hood. That really looks sharp but have always wondered what it will do to the paint on the hood.

Re: Hood Insulation-Where to buy?
