99 Montana brake pedal

Ever since she got it, the brake pedal on Tam's van has seemed real low to me. The brakes don't engage 'till the pedal's about 2" off the floor, and at full brake is about 1/2" off the floor. She's had the brakes checked 2 or 3 times (they squeak) and is always told everything's good. I mean, the van stops good and all, it's just kinda scary for your foot to be so low when they start grabbing.
Is this something anyone else has experienced? And if so, is there a pedal adjustment that can be made? I'm not real familiar with the whole ABS thing, and don't want to wreck anything.
Oh, and she just loves the hell out of that van!!
Thanks for any input,

Welcome to AF. First thing I would do here is look at the rear brake shoe adjustment, there is a possibility the adjustment is way out or the self adjusters do not work.

Second that one! Take the drums off, clean everything and lub the adjusters. Then, adjust the rear shoes for a snug fit.

Try the brakes now....better?
