'94 wagon, steering wheel has 1/2inch of play

Tryin to fix up my sisters wagon so i can sell it. Noticed the steering wheel has about 1/2-1inch vertical play in it. I got under the dash and i can see the shaft near the 4 bolts moving inside. However the knuckle doesnt move with it....So its internal.

Any ideas? I searched a few different terms, found 1 thread but it had 0 replies.

Any help is appreciated.

Somewhere up under the dash you should find bolts that secure the steering column... just cinch down those bolts... sounds like they are loose.
