1984 Vette

Hey everyone I'm new to the vet threads. I've been looking for a cheap project car for soem time now, and I think I found it. I found a 1984 Cease-fire Injection vette with 60K thats been stored and driven 5,000 miles for the last 14 years. All in all, its in good shape runs good, problem with the cluster not lighting up, needs a little paint work(flaking off front bumper cover). I can get it for $6000. Sound like a good deal? I know the engine is basically junk 205 HP 290 ft/lbs..Thinking of building an LS1 for it. Lemme know what you think.

Re: 1984 Vette

I have an 85 and we paid $5,600 for the car in great condition. (considering it's 20 years old) We've put about $2,000 into it. We got a glass targa, new speakers, Flowmaster exhaust, new door panels, new steering wheel, and replaced the window ribbon.

Re: 1984 Vette

That sounds a little steep to me. The mileage is nice, but '84 isn't a very good year model b/c of that cross-fire injection. If you're wanting it to put another motor in, you could probably get one in better shape but w/a bad motor for less money, then you wouldn't have to mess w/getting the guage fixed and having it repainted.

Edit: Now if you were going to completely restore it and leave it all factory, that might not be bad for a 60k mile car.

Re: 1984 Vette

The 1984 Vettes that I have driven rode really rough, they were sprung too tight. One car that I had in the shop was hammered shit, everything rattled when I drove it. They might be good on the track but it'll beat you to death on a bumpy road. In 85 softer springs were installed and the stiffer springs were available as a suspension upgrade.
