W.I.P. - Smallblock S-10

My second WIP for a customer, a 383-powered S10. I had to hack up the box-stock grille and use .015 x .080 styrene strips to duplicate the billet grille. Off to a good start I think. How about that duck-egg blue styrene!

Hmmm, your customers enjoy your struggling
with red and blue styrene, don't they?

You sure did a nice job on that grill. If you hadnt mentioned it, I wouldnt have even thought you modified it.
Btw, I have a Monogram McDonalds stock car, molded in beautiful red plastic. If you're interested that is........

Re: W.I.P. - Smallblock S-10

Few more updates... vertical slats added to the grille, priming complete... Dash completed, gauges detailed and extra gauges and tach added as per the real life dash...

Valve covers aren't done yet, I just detailed them with red coloured pencil... can anyone think of a way to get red paint on the lettering instead?

Re: W.I.P. - Smallblock S-10

What if you painted the valve covers red first, then follow up with a light coat of black and carefully scrape the black off where you want the red to show. Or even gently wear the paint off with your fingertips.

Thats what I'd do. Or, Paint it red, follow with a Dull or Gloss coat (whichever is to your liking) then paint them flat black. Go at it with some sand paper....no more coarse than 800 grit though. Or use a toothpick....

Re: W.I.P. - Smallblock S-10

Hmm... I suppose I could give it another try... but I found there just wasn't enough height to the letters to really get at them without taking paint off the rest...
