Wiring / Trans / Backup Lights

I'm rewiring my 70, from the ground up. The new harness has a dedicated backup lights wire and a wire to run to the back up light switch that works when the trans is shifted into reverse (as it should). I have a Munice M21 with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. There is no activation switch to work the back up lights on either the trans or the shifter. Does anyone know what switch I need and where it gets mounted, or if I need a new shifter or whatever to make the backup lights work when I shift into reverse?

Thanks.

Re: Wiring / Trans / Backup Lights

if there's nothing on the case for a switch location, it has to be shifter mounted one then. Did you check Hurst out to see fi they offer a kit?

Edit: I did a search for "reverse switches" on Summit and found 11. Didn't see any direct fit ones but I'm sure something can be jimmy'd up

Re: Wiring / Trans / Backup Lights

I'll have to look into it.

I'm pretty sure there's no mounting location on the trans case, and almost positive there's none on the shifter either.

I'm gonn ado some rooting around and get back to you, I'm SURE I'm gonna have more questions.

Re: Wiring / Trans / Backup Lights

I searched Hurst's site. This is the part I need (and you were right Dylan):
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HUU%2D2480003&N=7 00+4294925134+115&autoview=sku

Question...

The mounting instructions indicate that it gets mounted in the second gear stop bolt location. I understand that and know what's going on. My problem with that is that my shifter doesn't have the stop bolts on it. I don't know if I have an early production model before the stop bolts were added or whatever, but there are none. Can I just drill out a hole in the right spot and tap it with threads, or is that a bad idea?
