SRS light-- does it disable the air bags?
Hi
I have a 2001 Honda civic and last week the "SRS" warning light came on.
I stopped at a Honda dealer who told me it could be as simple as the seat belt buckle on up to the air bags.
The diagnostic test would cost $82.00 which I feel is a rip-off, but that is not my issue.
The mechanic told me that when the srs warning light comes on, the air bags are automaticly disabled. According to him, even if it is something as simple as the seat belt buckle, were I to get in an accident, the air bags will not deploy. Does this sound right?
If so, I cannot have air bags until I pay them the $82.00 plus dollars?
I got the impression they thought they were dealing with a "dumb broad" and told me the airbags were disabled, to get me in there. If it is true, it seems like it's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Does anyone know if the srs warning does automatically disable the air bags?
Thanks
