BCM Devices Lost Power - Comes Back

When my 1998 Camaro Convertible sits in the sun and gets hot, I have no
power to windows, conv top motor, radio. Not sure how many other things fail. With doors open and a/c on momentarily, the power is restored. The BCM is the common point of failure in all three according
to electrical schematic. The local dealer said we have to see it fail to diagnose the problem. Hummmph! Sounds like shade-tree mechanic to
me. Any help here? Will replacing the BCM for about $300 fix the problem? If any fuse was blown, it certainly would not fix itself. Thanks
in advance for any help. This is my first day on this list and it seems like there are some real pros here.

I would first check the harness connection to the BCM and then if that checks out buy a used one from a salvage yard or ebay before a new dealer priced one.

FormulaT1,
Thanks. I am not a mechanic. When you say check the harnenss, are you referring to simply ensuring the connections are tight or something else?
Thanks

Yes, the connect is tight and there are not noticable damaged wires.
