Question SR20DET A/C Question..

I have an S13 redtop with an OEM intake hose which barely clears the air conditioning pipe going to the A/C compressor. I'm positive that the connector is actually pushing in on the intake pipe a little bit, and it's not even converted to R134a yet.

Taking off or moving the intake hose is kind of a no-brainer, but then that would take the MAFS out of the system while the car is running and charging.

Is there something that I'm missing? I'm pretty sure that the evacuation connector (in front of the condensor) is smaller in size than the standard R12 or R134a connector, but is it safe to charge the system with freon from there?

Thanks
