|
anybody have a timing belt that broke on a gen 4
I guess there supposed to be replaced every 60,000 miles
I cant afford the expense I also cant do it my self so I was wondering if you ever had the timing belt break on you and how many miles where on the belt |

According to Gates
(check the Timing Belt Replacement Guide at) http://gates.com/brochure.cfm?brochu...chGatesPopular your timing belt should be changed every 90K, not 60k. You should change it at 60K if your driving is considered severe usage.

this might be a rare case, but my 98 2.2L has 141K miles on it. I doubt the belt was ever changed by first owner since my dad bought it with 40k on it, but it has never changed it since we bought it. It does look like it needs changing now. Last 40k miles or so have been lots and lots of highway, i dunno if that eases the tension on that belt or helps its life or something?
