a guy in celicagts.com recommended i ask u for advice. I want to buy a celica. and i want to get 300+ hp out of it. people say turbo's/superchargers, some say rebuilding the engine.

You can swap easely the 3s-gte and tranny from the altract with minor trouble. The shop where I buy my parts and make them do some stuff on my car can put the engine tranny and all goodies to pass 300hp for 5000$CAN (everything inclueded parts, time, engine, tranny, etc) that's about 4350$ USD.

would that be a good idea??

that sounds like an amazing deal. btw the alltrac tranny wont fit cause it is an awd tranny and the gt/gts is fwd. the 5sfe can get 300hp witout too much trouble, youll just need forged internals as the 5sfe wasnt blessed with strong internals like the the 3sgte. actually i would prefer a fully built 5sfe block with a 3sgte head for the best engine possible. the 5sfe has .2 liters more displacement than the 3sgte and loves torque. the 5sfe isnt a great engine but its not a crap engine like some people say. btw do you know what all they plan to do after they swap the engine to get it to 300hp?

to get 300 hp out of the 5sfe or 3ste is going to take alot of money and time, and at that point youll be spending rediculous amounts of money on the drivetrain due to the fact that 300+whp on a fwd car is hard to control/have

id go for the 3sgte swap
a guy named pressure2 has a 5sfe with 220WHP and 260WTQ but hes at highg boost and a good turbo so....witought forgies and more money in to fuel sytems cams...etc hes not going anywhere

do the 3sgte swap, youll need to upgrade the turbo, most likley the fuel system as well, if you ever do it post up here
