What are good preventive maintenance measures for the Alero?
I have a 2001 Alero that I purchased in Feb. 2004. So far I've had to change the fuel pump, had my transmission fluid flushed, got a new gas filter (which I probably didn't need, but Precision tune suggested it), got the turn signal switch fixed thanks to the recall, and of course, routine oil and oil filter changes. My car is at 79,000 miles and it didn't come with the manual.
From your experience, what are some of the best preventive measures to take in order to prolong the life of the Alero? |

Re: What are good preventive maintenance measures for the Alero?
Change the oil and filter at regular intervals, don't flush the transmission again since it can damage the clutch surfaces. Change only the fluid and filter every 30K miles, also change the fuel filter regularly and you may want to change the plugs, wires (connectors) at around 100K and keep the air filter changed for top performance. You may want to run some good quality fuel injector cleaner periodically as well.

I'd tell you fuel filter every year. You cant do this too often, and its the big reason those pumps go bad. The rest of it sounds on the money.
