Car is Dead. No power in the interior of car

Hi. I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. I am having a problem with my car. I was parking my car in the driveway yesterday. When i put the car in park and went to turn the key back to take the key out, it got stuck. I could not get it out. I tired everything from turning the wheel to see if the wheel had just locked up. I tried shifting the car into Neutral but it wouldnt even do that. None of my dash light or door light or accesories would not come on. So to get the key out i went under the wheel and realesed the lock manually. So i figure okay ill try and crank it up agian so i stuck the key in and tried to crank it up agian and got nothing no power in the car. I also tried to jump it and got nothing at at not a single click or any light on either.I talked to a couple of people that i know personally that knows about cars and they said that it was probably my Ignition switch maybe be bad. so it doesnt know that the key is out of the ignition and probably is stuck in that sweet spot where the car doesnt reconize that is needs to give power. I also was told that if the if the ignition switch is screwed up then it would cause the car to lose all power. I think it is stuck between the Off switch and the switch that turns on your dash lights. So that probably would be the dead spot? I know my battery is not dead. If you have any sugestions on what could be going on please let me know. I also was told on another forum that my ignitin switch in my steering colum has gone bad. I was also told that my Yumblers would not be the problem cause i was able to release the key manually. also something was said about most ars now has the seliniod release key that has to have power to be released so that is why it gets stuck releasing the key cause i have no power in the car. Can anybody confirm this if so then please give me your input seriously needed.

Solenoids & manual releases for the key?!?! I've never heard of that & can't imagine why they would build that into the car. I'm not saying it doesn't - just that it"s the first I've heard of it. Did you check all the fuses & battery connections?

I agree. The key release solenoid was discontinued in 2000 and up GP models. 1999 was the last year.

The reason why the BTSI PARK problem is there due to lack of 12 volts at the BTSI fuse and to the shift interlock in the console. Same for the IP panel and lighting.

I agree with the assessment you have already received, most likely cause is the ignition switch and harness and possibly the key cylinder. However it is easy to troubleshoot with a wiring diagram and a multimeter to prove the problem.
