Key Fob Programming
Hi Everyone,
My key fob (i.e. keychain remote) broke, and I found some places on e-bay that sell them for much cheaper than the dealer. My question is how do I program my car to respond to the new fob (or vice versa)? Does anybody know how this is done? I would really appreciate the forum's insight on this, since the dealer will likely charge an arm and a leg for a new remote. Thanks! |

Re: Key Fob Programming
If you have your owners manual, the instructions are in there.

Re: Key Fob Programming
Actually, it might not be in the owner's manual. It depends on what year the car is. My '97 GTP had the instructions in the owner's manual, but the '99 doesn't. I'm not sure about '98. Apparently GM thought they would be better off charging people insane prices to program remotes for them.
Anyway, use the forum's search function and search for "keyless entry program" and you should be able to find several threads with the correct procedure listed.
