Blower problem NO A/C

hey guys. before i post this, i scanned older related posts trying to see if i could find a solution to my problem. but have had no luck thus far with my 2000 alero.

the other day my blower fan stopped working. ever since i bought the car the first few fan speeds didnt work, but the highest one did. now it doesnt. after reading some posts, i thought must be the blower motor resistor. so i put a new one in. nothing happened. still no luck. so i took the part back.

then i thought maybe the blower motor itself is bad, took it to an auto junk yard, he said the connections looked corroded, he cleaned them and tested the motor.. and it worked. so i was really happy thinking it would fix the problem. but the blower motor back in.. it worked a whole 5 minutes on high speed setting again. then stopped. i could hear this rattle noise when the motor was turned on. nothing for like 5 min while driving, then it kicked back on again for a few minutes.. then nothing.

this is driving me crazy. any suggestions?

Based on what you are describing it sounds like the blower motor resistor is bad. When you first replaced it the blower motor was probably the cause due to the corrosion. I would get another blower motor resistor since you technically still have the orginal. Also, if the blower motor is noisy you may need that too.

Re: Blower problem NO A/C

On most GM cars you may feel air come out of the vents when the car is in motion so that is normal. It is called flow through ventilation. Now if the blower is turning when climate control is set to off and car is stationary then that is a sign of a bad blower motor resistor.
