Antifreeze smell taste thru vents....

my 97 ga has the 2.4 motor. Recently the a/c stopped working and my dad was messing with it and it would work for a while then stop. Then it started making a noise and my dad said it was the pulley? to the a/c. Well today, i was driving and smoke came thru the vents that smelled and tasted like antifreeze! I went to autozone and the guy said i had a coolant leak, something about the a/c condenser and a hose? There was no coolant in the car and the temp was decked out. I am pretty sure it's not the heater core because i think it has something to do with my dad messing with the a/c. But the leak is pretty bad and it is on the passenger's side. There is a metal sheild underneath the car so i cant see where it is coming from......does anyone know what this may be????

theres two hoses that go to the heater core, either of them could be loose or bad.
Also, I wouldnt rule out the possiblity that the heater core is leaking, because to make alot of smoke(from antifreeze) it would hav to be a decent size leak.

And Welcome to AF !

also when it leaked the first time, if they didnt clean out the area where it leaked(insulation, plastic, etc) It very well could be from that too.
