87' Honda Civic brake lights stuck on

Hello,
I am 16 and got my first car which is a 1987 Honda civic. I do not know much about cars so forgive me if I do not say the right names of certain parts. I have identified part of the problem but have no clue how to fix it. The brake pedal looks like it pushes up against a sensor when it is not being used which turns the brake lights off, but the brake pedal itself has a hole where the sensor should be "pushed". For now I have removed the fuse so save my battery, but what do I do to make the sensor work with the brake pedal (it works when I manually push it)?
Thanks,
Tyler

ok here ya go this is how we fixed it up. we took a peice of plastic kinda thick like a 16th of an inch thick. we cut s lil square a lil bigger then the whole out of the plastic and then used some two part all purpose epoxy "double bubble" epoxy to be exact and glued ir over the whole. it works fine now good luck wiht it. and welcome again

I love the technicality of my brother's speach...

If you look at the brake pedal arm, you'll notice there is a hole in it right where the switch for the brake lights hits the pedal arm. If you can find a piece of plastic, cut it into a square big enough to fit over the hole, and a little extra to help hold it on and epoxy/glue it there, it should fix your problem. I went home for the weekend only to find my poor car dead, and that was the easiest way to fix it. And welcome to the forums.
