Unhappy 01 trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

My 01 blazer has started to idle rough lately when slowing down or coming to a stop. It then ocassionaly stalls while doing this. In addition, sometimes when I start to drive it takes a while for it to shift gears and is very loud. The engine light goes on and off, this happens more when my gas tank drops below a 1/4 tank.

Per the auto shop it's the Throttle Sensor. Does this mean I need to replace it or will a cleaning work?

Any suggestions? I am taking it to auto-zone tomorrow to get the error code(s).
Get the code and post back, Welcome to AF, BTW.

Yep, start with reading the codes. Low idle or stalling at idle has been fixed with a throttle body cleaning. Basic know-how, tools, a can of TB cleaner and some clean rags are all that's needed. Loudness is probably the clutch fan.

So this is a 2001 blazer w/ the 4.3L V6? That would be totally different from a 2002+ trailblazer. If that's the case you might wanna try the S10/blazer board.

G/luck

Re: 01 trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

The code is P0122. They told me it's the TPS. I did a throttle body cleaning and that seemed to work for about half a day. Then it stalled on me again when turning a corner after stopping.

Should I replace the TPS? Any other suggestions?

I did post on the blazer board, but no help yet.

Re: 01 trailblazer - rough idle - stalls

The throttle body for your truck is totally different than that of the 2002+ trailblazer, but given your symptoms, I'd clean/replace the idle air control valve (IAC) or per the code, replace the TPS. To be honest, I have not heard of, or had any issues with the 4.3L V6 throttle body & I've owned several.
