Jaguar Type C - LM 1951 - Walker/Whitehead (Starter 1/43)

Since I still have to build about 7 Le Mans winners, I have to fight my battle at several fronts at the same time, so that is why I started this Jag.

After removing the flash en seams I degreased the body, I primed it and sprayed it with 3 layers of Tamiya TS-9 Britsh green.

Here I added the sparse decals.

After a few clear coats the body looks ok to me, which means I can start building the chassis.

So I started with the seats. I painted them with oil paint (burnt sienna) to imitate the leather; both color and structure come close to the real thing in my opinion. Oil paint has a big advantage : it dries very slowly, allowing you to drybrush and weather the parts for a long time.

I also added the pedals (which were not in the kit) because the bottom of the car is very clearly visible once finished. The gear lever was made from a needle (pin).

Once that part is put aside for drying, I started the detail painting of the body. The inside of the 3(!) headlights were painted silver, and the inside of the radiator was painted matt black, as were the insides of the wheel arches.

The leather belts were painted with oil paint again. The buckles still have to be painted of course.

The tail lights, the rear racenumber light and the rearview mirror were painted silver. The tail lights will get a layer of clear red of course.

The passenger seat cover was painted semi gloss black to imitate the leather.

The radiator grid, being a flat photoetched part, was bended both in horizontal and vertical directions to fit perfectly in the body.

Finally I glued the windscreen to a tiny photoetched frame with epoxy-glue.

After a night of drying I can now start the completion of the model. Once the Jag is finished I will of course post new pictures.

See you then!

Hey,

on the first pics I thougth, mmmh, looks like to much lacquer on the body. But the last one shows that you know, what you´re doing.

Great Jag. Make sure to have a couple of completed pics for us!

Nothing cooler than a Jaguar C-type. Well, except maybe a D-type.

Guy, did you know we have a seperate "completed" subforum now. You should post the finished pics in there. More people will see them and be impressed/inspired by your 1/43rd scale mastery.

I noticed after I posted my finished pics. I just added them to my "in progress" thread without paying attention. My bad. Forgive me. I'll post the finished pics again in the "completed" subforum, ok?
