To quote Socrates: ITS ABOUT BLOODY ****IN TIME!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen and K3, Brokes car is running.

Not only does the engine run, the entire car as a whole is driveable.

I can hear you thinking "Bullshit" as I write this so here it is:

Look at that! It's somewhere OTHER than in the driveway or the garage!

Idles a bit off, still have to check the timing, has a power drain off something (thinking alarm system), needs a good bath and I still have to get it smogged and back on my insurance but shit, its running. And only 25 months and $10,000 over the original budget.

Only real problem is that it seems it will be hard to keep it off the boost for the next few hundred miles. Not so much because of temptation, although there is that, but simply because with all the mods on stock turbos boost starts coming on even at mild throttle very quickly. But it's not like this is a bad problem to have.

Oh and the Borla pipes....oooooooooooooooooooooooh the sound of the Borla pipes. There is a song that embodies sensuality and it is sung on 2 1/2" stainless steel.

Oh yeah:

There it was, the original 18.3 miles I traveled before eating piston. I think I have 28 something on it now.

Especially since the 240's head gasket finally gave out after a very long poor running, no leak coolant loss, milky oil, overheating battle. But that should be taken care of in the next week or so and done with. Ready for another 219,000 miles.

Pfft, better to get my car done as soon as possible then, it's not like the prices are going to go down.

That would be back in Illinois, unless you got an Enchanted Suitcase of +2 Holding.

"Never happen again" like you're not going to let him drive it or "Never happen again" like he's at the bottom of a river somewhere?

Hmm still on stock turbos? Any reason for not upgrading while you rebuilt it?

Ran out of money, I've essentially been unemployed for the last year. Picking up a truck a few times a month paid the bills and left a bit for the Z but turbos and manifolds would be another ~$2500. Funny thing is that just as I get it back on the road I come across an interesting full time job opportunity. See how the interview goes. If all goes well then I'll probably pull the engine this winter and upgrade then. It's too nice out to have the car sitting.

Well, I was talking about never letting him drive it again, but I think I like your idea better. I am actually alittle over 3/4's of the way finished with the swap. I just need to put the upper plenum back on, hook the harness to the engine, and sort out the spaghetti bowl of vacuum lines. Everything else is ready. (I think)

Re: To quote Socrates: ITS ABOUT BLOODY ****IN TIME!

Doing a EGR delete gets rid of that pair of metal vacuum tubes on the passenger side of the plenum and a few more in the back. Doing a throttle body coolant line delete gets rid of everything under the plenum and only causes three reroutes (and I think only one on a NA car). A PRVR delete doesn't clean up alot but it does get rid of the extra vacuum hoses between the fuel pressure regulator and the plenum. All that really helps clean up the engine bay.

The PRVR lines are a bit different on a NA though so check the manual for that.

Re: To quote Socrates: ITS ABOUT BLOODY ****IN TIME!

Carbon canister delete also can get rid of a few lines running from the front.

dont forget those pesky AIVs. they dont get rid of any vacuum lines but they are useless and usually arent working properly 10-15 years later.
