Re: whats the best rods, rings and pistons?

I've had no problems with eagle rods, and wiseco pistons.

Re: whats the best rods, rings and pistons?

If you're only going to be going up to 400hp, you could get by safely on a set of stock 1g rods, 2g pistons, and a set of Hastings piston rings

If you're looking to spend a little more money then go with what stevie said, Weisco pistons on Eagle rods, and still using Hastings piston rings.

Re: whats the best rods, rings and pistons?

On a FWD I would say higher 11's, low 12's unless you got some mad driving skills and/or some slicks. Stock shit will hold 400 hp fine. Some guys in the twin cities have been putting down 500hp on stock 6 bolts with no problems for years. 1g rods and 2g pistons are a good combo if you can get some already done like that, but getting the wrist pin hole bored out costs lots of money and then you have to trust that someone didnt fuck it up. I would (and probably am when I rebuild this winter) personally go with 1g big rods and the cheapest 8.5:1 or 8.8:1 aftermarket pistons you can find. IIRC, you can get Ross pistons with rings for $415 shipped eBay style.

Re: whats the best rods, rings and pistons?

i have crower rods and wiesco pistons in my block and i love them, hastings makes the best rings in my opinion....just make sure you get a good set of bearings to go with whatever setup you decide on

Re: whats the best rods, rings and pistons?

JE pistons, eagle rods. Good combo, but it's a personal preference. All the brands everyone listed are good as well. If your going for the 400 HP mark stock 1g rods and 2g pistons will suffice.
