99 Montana power window

Drivers side power window is shot. Window goes down crooked and binds in the the track. Purchased new regulator (scissor arm machanism). I removed the door panel but was at a loss as to how to remove the whole assembly from the door in order to get to the regulator which is on the back side. Need advice as to how remove glass from the 2 clips on the top track or any other tricks on fixing this problem. Thanks

Re: 99 Montana power window

Read page 2 Thread titled " 98 montana power window problems"

I welded a flat bar on my bent regulator to stop it from bending .. This worked ( stopped bending ) but the window still will not stay in the track..
Was told required new window trim which is the track.. Still have not tried this and don't beleive it to be the problem ... as others have tried... solution I'm also still waiting for a reply....

The best book I found is the Haynes manual... Lots of hints including removing window from door.( about 20.00 can ). If you respond back I'll be able to send you the procedure tomorrow...

Re: 99 Montana power window

For Window Glass Removal ( from Manual Haynes)

Step 1: Remove door trim
Step 2: Lower window glass all the way down the door
Step 3: Carefully pry the inner and outer weather-strippng out of
door window opening.( Horizontal pieces inside and Out).
Step 4: Raise the window just enough to access both of the retaining
clips through the hole in the door frame.
Step 5: Using a screwdriver, depress the retaining tabs on the window clips
( black pieces at bottom of window),then slide the equalizer
(aluiminum looking horizontal piece) off the window.and remove the
glass by pulling it up and out.

Done this a few times... First time a little tricky... let me know if this works..

BTW.
Had drouble with window switch, drivers side up/down whitch is the master for the passenger side.
I'm so anal as to open up the switch clean all the contacts(badly carboned) and re-assemble ... this worked ..Another GM fault...Fixed !!!

Good Luck

I agree with you. 'Might as well take it apart and see if I can fix it...' this is my attitude. Afterall, it's already broken, so if I break it some more I won't feel too bad and If I fix it even better!...

Did this with all the switches to replace burned out bulbs, steering wheel radio controls, overhead DIS and heater controls too. The switches in the doors are a little tricky to take apart, but if you take your time you can clean them and replace the bulbs too.

Re: 99 Montana power window

Had same issue with driver door power window. I too replaced the regulator (scissors unit). Helped but only a short while. Finally figured out the door track itself had a small bump-out area (not designed). Once I bent that back to same size opening as rest of track, problem was gone.
