'02 Trailblazer shutting off!

I have an '02 Trailblazer, the other day my wife was at a stop light, light turned green, she hit the gas to go, then the engine just shut off! The 'No oil pressure' light came on, no power steering, everything just powered down. She managed to pull into a driveway on the side and it restarted w/no problem and she drove home just fine.

Took it to dealer, they drove it around for about 40 miles and it didn't do it again, hooked it up to computer and said there was no 'code', whatever that means. So bottom line, they don't have a clue whats wrong with it. Fortunately they didn't charge me anything. This also happened about 6/7 months ago, and also she said the other day the horn just started honking for no reason.
I mean what am i suppose to do if the dealer can't figure it out? This could be dangerous.
My plan is to take it another Chevy dealer.
On another chevy forum i was on, someone said Chevy/GMCs are 'known' for having this problem and there is a TSB yet there is no fix. No fix? How could they be aware of this problem and not be able to fix it?
Anyone have an idea what this might be or how i should maybe approach this?
Thanks

Re: '02 Trailblazer shutting off!

Those dash lights being on would happen during any engine off, ignition live condition, so that's okay. No codes mean the dealer plugged an OBDII scanner into the port under the drivers side dash, but their was no trouble codes stored. Try a search for "OBDII trouble codes" to see what that is all about. If your "service engine soon" light stays lit, you will give a trouble code. Trailblazers being heavily electronic, can so some crazy things if you have a weak battery or failing alternator. Did you notice any operation concerns prior to the stall? One of the first things I'd try is a throttle body cleaning. The throttle by wire system may not be able to make minute throttle postion changes to maintain idle speed because of dirt in the throttle bore. A $3 spray can of throttle body cleaner and ~10min of time is all it takes. Remove the top half of the air cleaner box, remove intake hose, remove intake resonator (big black box that says "vortec 4.2" on top of engine. Now you have clean access to the throttle body. Keep the key out of the ignition, pop open the throttle plate with your finger and spray all around the throttle bore. You can wipe the area with a clean, lint free rag as well.

G/luck
