Well the air Pump pumps air into the exhaust to get a cleaner exhaust. Don't ask me why Ford did it, but my Cali Sn-95 had it. Summit sells a removal kit that adds an extra pulley so you don't have to buy a different belt. Ebay might have some that are cheaper. I paid 30 for mine.

Re: Air Pump

YES U CAN TAKE IT OFF OR BY PASS IT. BY- PASSING IS THE EASIST. IVE SEEN SOME THAT LOOK LIKE THEY JUST MOVE THE BELT TENSIONER AND RAN THE SAME BELT. BUT ANYWAY ALL YOU DO IS JUST RUN YOUR BELTS AROUND IT. BUT MAKE SURE THE BELT CLEARS ALL THE OTHER STUFF IE, ALTENATER PULLY, WATER PUMP PULLY, ECT. IF YOU TAKE IT OFF YOU HAVE TO PLUG THE PORTS THE HOSES RUN TO. IT SHOULD WORK FINE JUST BY-PASSING AND THATS THE EASIST. WE USED TO DO IT ALL THE TIME WITH THE V-8s. GOOD LUCK
