Some of my artwork: (seascapes, still-lifes, graffiti)

Here's a few crappy shots of some of paintings and sketches. I was born and raised in the Caribbean, and I'm addicted to surfing and scuba-diving, so I paint a lot of seascapes.

Paintings:

"Adrenaline" ~ 48" x 36" oil on canvas

"Realm" ~ 36" x 48" oil on canvas

Ho'okipa Gold" ~ 36" x 48" mixed media (oil, gold-leaf, and transparent glass-paint) on canvas

"Sweet Radiant Light" ~ (I forgot the size) oil on canvas

Foliage Study #2 ~ Indian-ink on watercolor-paper

Damn, that's truly incredible stuff! I could stare at the first two and the graffitti for a looooong time. Really inspiring stuff... keep up the good work!

*edit: just a couple questions: when you're filling in a really big area, like the underwater scene, how do you get such smooth tonal transitions (blue to lighter blue in this case)... do oils just blend really well, or are there some special techniques? Also, how do you avoid making a huge mess and getting paing on unwanted areas (for example, where the fish would be)? Do you just paint carelessly and then paint the fish, sea life etc over top? or do mask everything off?

Alex

Thank you for the compliments.

Alex, there is sort of a technique to acheiving smooth transitions of color; if you overblend the colors become muddy, and loose their original value/hue/temperature. As for painting the fish in "Realm", I almost always begin with the background and then work up to the foreground elements.

Cool. Does that work w/ acrylics too? or do they dry too fast?
