Magic windows

Drive a 320i 1996
Hi can anyone help me solve the electric windows that seem to have a mind of there own. I cant fully close my drivers door window fully as it jumps up and down on its own about 2 cm. Not funny when you sit in a car wash or the alarm goes off in the middle of the night. I've had to disarm the alarm because of this. Any ideas???

Re: Magic windows

Faulty motor, possibly in the wiring would be my guess.

Re: Magic windows

I dont think it relates to the motor as it now happening to both windows, passenger side not as bad. If I leave the window slightly open say 1cm there are no effects. Its like the locking unit is not sure the door is fully closed and the window drops to allow clearence then hops back up in quick concession. Mad or what!!

Re: Magic windows

Well me and my boss was finishing a 2000 Z3 which did the same thing on the drivers window and eventually burnt the window motor out.We replaced the window motor and had no more probs. out of it.Also most all BMW's give allowance when u open the door they come down a bit and when u close the door it goes right back up.

Re: Magic windows

Try resetting, works on some models, ignition on,open window and hold button down for 10 seconds,or if beep is heard, then close window and hold again, may work,if ok do rest of windows same way.

Re: Magic windows

Thanks for you help, but doesn't seem to have fixed the prob. Any idea where I can pick up a window motor on-line? It's for a 320i convert 1996.
