97 Tahoe with a bad brake booster

Has anyone replaced one before? It look like the bolts to it are tough to get to.

Also, can I get one at a local auto parts store or is this a dealer item?

Thanks
Steve

Re: 97 Tahoe with a bad brake booster

you can get this part at a parts store. the bolts are not that bad to get too, i think the most difficult thing to do, is take off the retaining clip that holds the booster rod to the brake pedal.

Re: 97 Tahoe with a bad brake booster

Im about half way through this job, and I have no idea how to get the clip of the brake light switch, which I think also hold the pushrod on too. Im working my way through the 4 bolts holding it on. And they are a #$&%@ to get off.

I have a Chilton manual, but it does not tell me much on how to take off the retaining clip or the brake light switch connector.

Any help would be great!!

Steve

Ahhh yessss.... That PIA clip. I remember that well! That was the hardest part of that job. See my old post...

I always use the "Search this Forum" pulldown on the upper right part of the screen to find details on projects that I know others may have already done. Sorry I didn't see your post earlier!
