Re: short ram intake
If you just want a short ram intake, I think the generic one from Autozone will fit. You probably won't see any gains though unless you do an mpfi swap.

Re: short ram intake
It doesn't matter what kind of air filter you put on... haha. If you want a deep sound on the intake side of things, just take out the plastic intake tubing put a filter on the tb and maybe remove the little restrictor plate thing.

Re: short ram intake
ahhh I never thought about that, good idea. I heard if you took the turbulence plate out that you lose some gas milege and possibly could have some issues. but Ill try the filter at the intake

Re: short ram intake
you wont have any issues if you take the plate out. can't really confirm the gas mileage, never keep up with it.
but yes, you can just put a filter on the tb and suck in hot air, but if your just going for the little bit of sound it adds, it doesn't matter. You could probably do what i did on my race car and grab a rubber intake tube from a Ford ranger and pop a filter on the end of it for a short ram. As for the sound, its loud when its revved up, but you don't hear it over the exhaust(or there lack of most of it)

Re: short ram intake
Or you could run the ghetto set up i had on my old STD. Buy some aluminum dryer tubing from home depot and run it from the TB to behind the battery where theres colder, more ambient air and add a cheapo cone filter. I also ran some more dryer tubing from next to the radiator right behind the bumper up to the compartment behind the battery where the air filter was at. This helped bring in even more cool air. Still got great gas mileage but damn my STD was slow...

Re: short ram intake
i dont know about you guys, but with the dpfi intake manifold, no matter what kind of filter is on it, it still sounds pretty much the same, best to just save the money and do the mpfi swap

Re: short ram intake
here is an autozone onefor a 92-95 civic...cut in half on a stock intake tube...the aluminum tube just fits in the stock plastic one...its been like that for years... and it sounds good

... your best bet is ebay...they all sound the same and all do the same job...freeing up some restrictions and making it sound like you have an itty bitty turbo spooling up...may gain like .5-1 hp
